World Information:
Miraculous Ladybug is a modern world that is fairly close to ours. There are a few technology advancements in trains and weapons and some AIs. There are also superheroes that isn't quite as prevalent as say DC or Marvel, but they do exist. Enough for everyone to accept when any appear, but Paris did not have any known heroes before Ladybug and Chat Noir.

In modern day, there appeared a supvervillain named Papillon, using the Butterfly Miraculous. The Miraculous are items with a creature called a kwami able to grant them powers. He had the power to use enchanted butterflies to take someone's bad day and supercharge it into a villain of the week threat. He seeks out the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat. Marinette and Adrien are recruited to become the heroes of those Miraculous, to protect Paris, defeat Papillon, and hopefully retrieve the Butterfly Miraculous. Unbenknownst to the heroes, of course, Papillon is actually Adrien's father, mad with grief over his wife, who Adrien thinks is dead, but his father knows is in some kind of magic coma.

What follows is a lot of monster of the week they have to purify, temporary heroes, the Peacock Miraculous appearing to fight along side Papillon, and eventually Ladybug becoming guardian of the other Miraculous of the temporary heroes.

Personal History:
Adrien is currently Schrodinger's Magic Clone and quite possibly why his mom is in a magic coma. So it does bring up some questions of what he feels or remembers of his childhood.

Adrien was an extremely rich, homeschooled kid for most of his life, largely isolated from the outside world. His only friends was Chloe Bourgeois, the bully character of the show, and his identical cousin Felix (who is also a Schrodinger), who is also a brat. His father is not very emotional and a very stern, professional man, though it is stated he became worse after the loss of his wife. His primary teacher is Nathalie, his father's assistant, who is very professional herself. His bodyguard is a mute gorilla of a man, but he's actually fairly nice if very protective. Frankly, its a miracle Adrien is as kind as he is, and this seems to come from his mother, Emilie. She is stated to be very kind and willful and that Adrien takes a lot after her.

After the loss of his mother, Gabriel and Adrien were both in a bad way, Gabriel isolating himself, Adrien having almost no support, but still expected to meet the high expectations of his father. He had to have perfect grades, do excellently in his extracurricular like fencing and piano, and be a supermodel. He wasn't supposed to cause trouble, or any fuss, and Adrien did just that. He wanted to make things easier for his father, and it contributed to Adrien being the kind of person who would repeatedly put himself second at best, over and over, no matter how much he needed help. Until finally he hit a breaking point and he decided to go to Public School and make friends. The first day, he is stopped because he waited to help an old man who turned out to be the Miraculous Guardian. This is the act that gets him Plagg and the Black Cat Miraculous, and he became Chat Noir. Thanks to the rush of superheroing, he runs to school the second day and Nathalie decides to convince Gabriel to let him go. Gabriel agrees, but only under certain conditions. School was allowed, but it could be taken away if Adrien ever started to not meet expectations.

What follows is a new life for Adrien, making new friends, falling in love with Ladybug, and enjoying his life as a superhero. Even if at times it meant dying or allowing himself to be mind control to protect Ladybug. Ladybug was the one who had to stand at the end, since she could purify the villain of the week and repair the damage caused by their fights.

For a while, things stayed on this steady path and its after the first season that Adrien ends up in Nautilus (the CRAU.) Wherein there ends up being two of him, the Waking and Dreaming, but the Waking is able to watch the Dreaming Him in the canon update.

Which does allow him to see the other new temporary heroes arrive. He sees his childhood friend Chloe become the Bee Miraculous hero, only to fall hard. He gets closer to his friends. He dates a girl named Kagami and she breaks up with him due to his issues. His relationship with Ladybug gets rockier and rockier, with her hiding she met the Guardian, and holding him at arms length due to her own trauma. And all the while Gabriel is still distant and cold to his son with only a few moments of warmth.

The Dreaming Adrien is clearly starting to feel the pressure of his life, not necessarily the heroics, but the personal. His father is controlling and absent all at once, putting him under constant pressure. He's unable to figure out who is the 'real him,' thinking its either the model or jokester hero while others say its someone in between. He's uncertain if Ladybug truly values him as a partner, or if he's just another sidekick. His unrequited love for her doesn't help his feelings. Gabriel and Ladybug's own personal issues often making them take it out on Chat to a certain extent.

Then in the most recent incident, Papillon has obtained all the other Miraculous besides the Black Cat and Ladybug and Adrien finds out its because his cousin Felix used his identity to trick Ladybug.

So its pretty bad for Dreaming Adrien.

Personality:
Adrien is a truckload of parent issues wrapped up in a very pretty, seemingly perfect package. When one meets Adrien, they will meet a polite young man, who is just the right mix of formal and relaxed to put people at ease. He's composed, he's graceful, he's smart, and just a little teasing to be charming. He's cool and athletic. There are a great many people who meet Adrien who would say he's perfect.

Adrien, however, is just great at acting perfect. There are truths in the act, of course. All those perfect traits are apart of him, but he's taken those traits and turned them up to eleven and hid everything that got in the way of it. Adrien is a genuinely kind person, to the point of being a people pleaser. He loves helping people and spending time with them, but he also knows he's been taken advantage of. He's polite, though genuinely the politeness is more of a mask for his incredible social awkwardness. Since he was homeschooled, his interpersonal relation skills are messy. He often withdraws when he doesn't know what to do, and it leads to people assuming what he means or just talking over him. He's often too passive for making a meaningful change in a relationship. The relaxed air is more practice then anything. The teasing is the one trait turned to one, because Adrien actually adores teasing and joking with people more then anything.

In truth, Adrien is someone whose very anxious about where he stands with people. He adores people. He wants lots of friends, and everytime he realizes he's friends with someone, he's beaming with happiness. He wants a life with normal teenage experiences with parties and team projects and field trips. He just had trouble opening up with people, sharing his own experiences is a terrifying thing, even if he's happy when someone learns and understands. Learning how to not be the perfect model is hard. However, once he's decided to open up to someone, he usually commits to it fully, so he can end up sharing sad things.

Adrien is also someone who swallows down his own pain and suffering. He's the type to self destruct versus take out his negativity out on others. The one time he's Akumatized in an erased timeline, he almost immediately tried to destroy himself and was only prevented by magical immunity. Adrien is incredibly lonely since the loss of his mother. He's prone to depression and withdrawing from the world, wanting to run away when not given emotional support with the pain, which he has difficulty seeking out.

Which is where Chat Noir comes in.

Chat Noir is a jokester. He's the comedic relief of the duo. The one who keeps things light and airy in all the battles. Its an impressive trick, considering Chat Noir can literally destroy anything with a touch, but he's often the one underestimated. Chat Noir will sass and snark and tease to his heart's content, and makes a whole lot of puns. He's more carefree as a superhero. Not totally careless, but he allows impulse to rain as Chat Noir more then he ever would as Adrien.

That being said, Chat Noir does take his responsibility seriously. He makes sure people are safe, and he will do his best to comfort victims in distress. His kindness shines through as both Adrien and Chat Noir. Chat Noir also takes the role of heart in the duo. Where Ladybug is the planner, Chat Noir keeps her grounded emotionally and helps her stand up again when she's beaten down. There is also a strong self sacrifice streak as Chat Noir. He will gladly, and without hesitation, throw himself between any attack and Ladybug. A mix of realizing that Ladybug is the one who has to stay up since she is needed to purify and can fix damages after the fight, and his own romantic feelings for her.

Chat Noir is also when his pettiness and anger will come out. Adrien is not an especially angry person, but the things he wouldn't dare do as Adrien for fear of ruining his reputation, Chat Noir can. Usually he just gets snippy and insulting when angry, though there's been times he's destroyed things in rage, though he's sure no one is around to watch those displays. Whenever he runs away from home, its in Chat Noir guise.

Finally, when it comes to Adrien, Love Is King. Which can be a problem. Love is why he's patient with his father's mistreatment, trying to be considerate of his need for time. Love is why sometimes, he is too pushy on his feelings for Ladybug and a reality check to remember to be respectful, though it should be said when he gets pushy, it coincides with him becoming unsure in his place in their partnership. He can cling to people when he feels like they will abandon him. Love can make Adrien do most anything for those he loves, and it brings him great happiness. The fear of losing that love is what usually causes him to hurt himself or others.

CRAU developments:
When Adrien arrived at Nautilus, his friend Marinette (secretly Ladybug) was already there, so she helped explain the world to him. One where will was king and you could use your willpower to create things from nothing. There were also monthly storms where the world went into chaos, with things like cloud floating above your head, turning into cats, or monsters showed up. Overall, Adrien wasn't too worried. It sounded like an adventure! And he could get closer to his friend Marinette! Who was always so shy around him For Some Reason, it seemed a great opportunity, since their world wouldn't miss their absence. Plus everyone else had been super nice and he was making friends quickly.

And then shortly thereafter, his father showed up.

Unbeknownst to Adrien, Gabriel was accounting for any potential issues of him being discovered as Papillon. After all, if he's discovered, then it puts Adrien in danger, and he can't save revive Emilie with the Miraculous. Which means he continues to act as he does in Paris, cold and distant, so no one thinks Adrien is a weakness, and he refuses to Bend as Gabriel where others can see because if he's bad at magic, he can't be a supervillain.

However, this leads to Adrien seeing a man refusing to adapt to his situation, and moreover, limits his ability to take care of himself. Gabriel insists on hiring people and while money is useless, he can design wonderful clothes. Adrien sees how difficult this was going to be, but a lifetime of conditioning makes it hard to fight his father at first. He asks for people to help him deal with his father, keep him safe and in one piece, and also allow for Adrien to go out and do what needs to be done as well as explore the freedom of the place.

Luckily Adrien is extremely charming, so people go along in part to help the nice young man and also make sure the stubborn old man doesn't die.

And then a storm happens that changes a person's alignment. Adrien turned full yandere on his father, and after he was himself, he ran away from home and outright avoided Gabriel for a while until an attack destroyed their home. Gabriel is discovered in the wreckage. However, Adrien knew his father wasn't in the house the whole time and knows there was time he was unaccounted for, and when he asked Gabriel about it, Gabriel lied and said he had been there the whole time, gaslighting Adrien pretty heavily. After almost losing his father, Adrien returns, but he's realized something he can't look away from.

Gabriel and Adrien had a toxic relationship.

Adrien had spent time with so many people in Nautilus, who liked him, who grew to love him. He found a sisters in Rose and Kirika. He found a brother in Spark. He found an uncle figure in the Tenth Doctor (who viewed Adrien as a son, but Adrien could never call another dad.) He grew closer with Marinette. And once he figured out how to be Chat Noir, he grew closer with Ladybug. He knew what support was like when he was hurt and upset. He knew what unconditional love was supposed to be like. And he knew what he had with Gabriel was not that.

He loved his father, but he grew to severely doubt his father cared for him. There were moments, but he started to wonder if it was just manipulations.

He started to stand up to his father, started to question him, started to push back. There was still some deception in the 'staff,' taking time for Adrien's back bone to grow, but they started to argue more and more.

Adrien knew when Marinette left.

He only knew Ladybug was gone for sure when Papillon showed up. And suddenly he was in charge of dealing with Akuma's and it was a struggle. Adrien was the one who did politics, not Chat Noir, and while he did his best, he found himself cracking under pressure. He never buckled, but he found he could understand why Ladybug could be so stressed out a lot better. Especially after he saw Dreaming Adrien. While Ladybug hiding things hurt him, but he understood enough to not be petulant about it. He started to play politics and games with Papillon, trying to ply him for information, figuring out some more of his motive and how the man operated.

He would still tell jokes and puns, but he did it far less when he had to be in charge. He understood how image was important, especially in a place used to forgiving villains, when Adrien understood Papillon wasn't a man who was seeking forgiveness. He knew the reason for his villainy was Personal, not an Ideal, but that is a lot harder to talk down.

When Ladybug returned, along with the arrival of Marinette, Alya (Marinette's best friend), and Nino (his best friend) in short order, Adrien was a lot more honest boy about his home life, if still underselling how bad things were, and a lot more active partner for Ladybug. There were also romantic developments with Ladybug. And Marinette. Which was a whole mess on both their ends, but they communicated as honestly as they could for two people who didn't tell each other their secret identities.

Another storm, and Adrien thinks his life is different. He's an orphan who learns of the Miraculous, and he aims to revive his parents. When Gabriel seems to arrive in Nautilus after death, he tries to kill Nino who thinks he's Chat Noir. When the storm ends, Adrien realizes what the two Miraculous can do, and he wonders if Papillon was after something similar. Nino also realizes who Adrien is, and Adrien can't even lie to him with his guilt. It brings them closer as friends and Adrien both loves and hates it because it brings Nino under the pressure he's under himself.

Adrien is still kind. Love is still the most important thing. But Adrien has learned to stand up for himself more, as Adrien, and he's come to understand more the pressure it takes to be in charge. How upsetting it is to watch people die for you. He thinks a lot more about what he's learned on the job, and examine how and why his father's treatment is abnormal at best. Adrien is still the self sacrificing, nice boy he always was, but he's a lot less likely to let things go on just because its unpleasant to rock the boat. And he has an easier time opening up to people, especially when it comes to connecting to shared experiences.

Key themes: Destruction being used as a positive.

The mask of perfection can be hiding a desperate earning for love and trust, and a toxic home life.

CRAU: How to finally step up, as a leader, and in standing up for yourself.

Main Motivation: Being able to feel loved, and trusted while still being himself.

Skills:

Human level: He's a champion fencer and has had lessons in karate and kung fu. He knows French, Chinese, English, Morse code, and a little bit of Japanese. He can play the piano. An extremely good gamer. He can play basketball and lacrosse. He's a rock climber and can do parkour. He's great a physics and extremely studious. An extremely good understanding of entropy. He is also a professional model and can act to a certain extent.

He's more recently learned how to cook and clean to at least a semi-competent level.

Black Cat Miraculous: Enhanced strength, speed, and endurance. Endurance especially, he can be thrown several city blocks. The super suit is also indestructible by normal means. Force transfers, but can't be cut or pierced. It also provides some protection to extreme temperatures.

Glamour. The super suit protects the identity of the wearer. While not foolproof, it does make putting two and two together difficult. Sentient AIs are able to see through the glamour.

Super weapon that comes in the form of a baton. It extends without seeming limit. It can be split in two. A communicator, a tracker, a telescope, a rebreather, a light, and can connect to the internet. Also indestructible by normal means.

Cat abilities. He has enhanced hearing and smell, he can see in the dark, able to move on all fours, extremely good balance.

Catacalysm, the power of destruction. The ability to destroy Anything, through their natural entropic process. Metal turns to rust, ice melts, glass shatters, and magic creatures go out of control. The only known thing to be able to destroy a Miraculous.

CRAU: Bending. The ability to create things through willpower. Adrien is. Actually bad at this, because he's a destructo cat. Most of his serious bending is usually done by deconstructing from something caused by another person or event. He can make basic things, like food and clothing and make up.

Big things he managed: He can turn into Chat Noir without needing Plagg. He can turn into a cat. He can talk to animals. Limited telepathic ability. He can conjure fire. He can make illusions. He's gotten some shapeshifting down, like turning into a girl, or hiding scars he's gotten. He can make 'madness jello' which is basically a containment made of jello and crazy emotions. He's kind of there to purifying dark magic.
